The antisemitism campaigner who was told he was ‘openly Jewish’ at a Palestine protest has questioned whether the Metropolitan Police would unfairly target an 'openly black person.'

The Campaign Against Antisemitism leader had been wearing a kippah skull cap when he was prevented from crossing the road near the demonstration in the Aldwych area of London earlier this month.

A Met officer was filmed telling Falter: "You are quite openly Jewish, this is a pro-Palestinian march. I’m not accusing you of anything but I’m worried about the reaction to your presence." He has since received an apology from the Met for the remarks.

However, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain today (22/4/2024) Falter questioned whether a police officer would stop a black person in the same way.

He told hosts Susannah Reid and Richard Madeley, "Imagine there's a far right march and out of the corner of their eye the police officer spies a black person looking towards them. Would they suddenly grab the black person, pull them to the pavement and say, 'Listen you're openly black you are provocative, you're antagonizing people by being here. And if you don't get out of the area I'm going to arrest you."

Falter's comments got a heated response on social media with lawyer and political commentator Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu writing on X: "Hey Zionist, I know you want to milk your moment to bring an end to pro-Palestinian marches & get Met Police Chief fired but you best keep Black people out of your mouth. Why is it that White people like Gideon Falter never fail to weaponise 'Black people' when it suits their agenda? Met police LITERALLY unfairly targets & threatens Black people on a regular basis and has done so for centuries. He got a tiny taste of what it's like for us with 'you're openly Jewish' (Black people hear worse by the way) yet he didn't get molested, assaulted, arrested, criminalised & stripped of his liberty in that moment or even in fear of his life from the Police and all of a sudden its 'imagine if it were a Black person?!' The utter caucacity of the erasure of our experience is White privilege on steroids. It's #StephenLawrenceDay and we are still dealing with false equivalence bulls*** #GMB."

Meanwhile, Falter also expressed his desire for Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley to quit, telling Good Morning Britain: "I think he needs to resign. The change the Met needs has to come from the top. He’s had six months to get a grip of this and he’s failed."
