After spending several years away from the big screen, Adam Deacon is set to return with a new film project, "Sumotherhood".

The Bafta-winner will produce, direct and star in the film, which is described as the first UK urban action-comedy.

Deacon spent a few years away from the film industry after his hit movie "Kidulthood" after battling various personal issues including bipolar disorder.

The star explained that the last few years had been a turbulent time for him and that It had been tough to get his life back on track.

"After previously having a hit movie I thought it would be a lot easier to get my follow-up film made", he said, talking about his new project.

"Many false starts later we finally have a great team behind us and I am ready to create something new and fresh that hasn't been seen before."

He further added that his vision as a director had matured over the years and that Sumotherhood "pushes the boundaries of what can be done".

The film Sumotherhood shall reunite Deacon with Michael Vu, who worked with him as a writer on the 2011 film Anuvahood.

Continuing the cast reunion, they will also be joined by writing partner and comedy performer Jazzie Zonzolo. The cast will also include Top Boy and Blue Story actor Richie Campbell, comedian Eddie Kadi and rapper JME, who also acts as the film's music supervisors.

In 2012 after the success of Anuvahood, Deacon went on to win the Bafta rising star award. However, the good times were short-lived after he was found guilty of harassment without violence in 2015 following a dispute with Kidulthood and Adulthood co-star Noel Clarke. Some of the issues that led to the dispute included the fact that his film Anuvahood sounded too similar to the titles of his previous work with Noel Clarke.

However, it now looks like Deacon is back on his two feet again and we can't wait to see what he has in store for us.
