Baby Found Dead in Hot Car After the Father Forgot About Him

A 14-month old baby was found dead in the back of his father's car after hours in sweltering heat.

The baby was tragically found dead after his dad reportedly forgot to drop him off at nursery before heading to work, where the baby was found dead in the company's car park on Wednesday afternoon.

The father worked at an aeronautics company in Safran in Bordes, southwest France and had supposed to have dropped the infant at nursery before heading to his workplace.Instead, alarms were rung by the mother of the child when it was discovered that the child had not been present at nursery that day.

Emergency services arrived at the scene at 5pm where they attempted to resuscitate the baby. Unfortunately according to prosecutor Mr Gensac, "No one heard the slightest noise" during their attempts.

An investigation into the baby's death has now been launched and prosecutor Cecile Gensac disclosed that "initial investigations suggest that the young child died of suffocation and dehydration.

"An autopsy is due to be performed where the exact cause of death will be made clear. The parents were taken to hospital after suffering from 'shock' at the news of their child's tragic death and psychological support units have been set up for the staff at the child's nursery, which looks after around 80 children. The temperature at the time was around 22C which is significantly lower than the record temperatures that spread across the southern parts of France during the same week.
