Sasha Johnson; one of the leading Black Lives Matter Activist in the UK is fighting for her life after being shot in the head.
According to reports, she was caught in a crossfire in a shooting supposedly between two rival gangs outside a party.
She was found critically wounded after police were called to a house on Consort Road in Peckham shortly before 3 am yesterday.
The 27-year old suffered life-threatening injuries when she was "accidentally" hit by a gunman.
Neighbours recall hearing gunshots and a car screeching off at the time of the shooting. Police later carried out a massive neighbourhood manhunt in the area but the shooter is yet to be found.
Imarn Ayton, a close associate of Ms. Johnson told BBC News that surgery in hospital "went well"; and the mother-of-three is with her parents in hospital.
Ms Johnson, who is a graduate of Oxford Brookes University, is also a member of The Taking the Initiative Party (TTIP); and has been a leading figure in the Black Lives Matter movement in the UK. This has triggered worries that the incident might have been part of a targeted attack on TTIP or BLM.
However, evidence suggests that Ms Johnson was not the intended target nor was the shooting in connection with her involvement in Black Lives Matter or other campaignings.
Around 50 of her friends; many of whom wore BLM badges, held a vigil for her on Monday near the hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
