Members of a Facebook group have been writing letters to Lucy Letby, a former nurse convicted earlier this year of the murder of seven infants and the attempted murder of six others.
Reports from The Mirror reveal that the Nurse Lucy Letby Facebook group is actively sending messages to Letby, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison. Some group members have even made disturbing statements, with one member mentioning that they have already sent a letter to her, and another inquiring about how to contact her through HMP Low Newton in County Durham. Another member, claiming to be a former NHS nurse, admitted to contemplating writing to her.
This group has also become a platform for discussing various conspiracy theories, with some suggesting that she may be innocent. However, not all members share this sentiment, and some are outraged by the fact that letters are being sent to her. They express their disbelief and anger at the idea of writing to someone responsible for the deaths of seven babies, referring to her as a "child serial murderer."
The 28 year old is currently in the process of appealing her convictions for the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six others. Her guilt was established during a 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court, during which it was revealed that the nurse had administered air and insulin injections to newborns while working as a neonatal nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital. However, the jury was unable to reach a verdict on six other counts of attempted murder.
A judge will soon determine whether she will face a retrial, with proceedings set to commence in court shortly.
