Legendary American actor, Denzel Washington Froze the internet for a while when he revealed he didn't know who Damson Idris was.

When stopped for questions by a reporter on the red carpet at the "A Journal For Jordan" premiere, he was asked to comment on Damson's career after he auditioned for the part of Denzel's son in "Fences".

However, the 66-year-old couldn't give his thoughts because he didn't know who the young British actor was.

"Damson is constantly compared to you and went viral last week for impersonating you. How do you feel about that? Do you feel like he's one of the leaders in this new black renaissance in TV and film?," the interviewer asked.

"Who are you talking about? I don't even know who that is," Denzel replied. "No disrespect Damson."

30-year-old Damson, has been in the entertainment industry for some years now starting out in the UK before going over to the US, however, he didn't land his breakout role as Franklin Saint until 2017 when the FX crime drama "Snowfall" premiered.

Since the release of the hit series many people have applauded him on his acting abilities and have even compared him to Denzel Washington.

Idris has also looked up to Denzel Washington for inspiration as an actor, and in a previous interview earlier this year, he spoke on how it was a "blessing" to be compared to Washington.

The actor even shared a very convincing impersonation of Mr. Washington on social media, which is why it came as a huge surprise for some fans to hear that Idris was not known to him.
