Lawrence Okolie put on a boxing masterclass to Knockout his opponent Krzysztof Glowacki and walk away with the WBO World Cruiserweight Championship at the SSE Arena in Wembley.
This was Lawrence' 16th professional fight, and he looked incredibly sharp in this matchup - making it difficult for Glowacki to make much of an impact.Once the fight got into the fourth round, Okolie began firing with his right hand and from there, it was clear domination from the new champion.
On BBC Radio 5 Live, the 28-year-old said: "I think I might cry in my hotel room, but not in front of anyone. It's a blessed feeling. It's crazy,"
"It's important that I become one of Britain's best cruiserweights and I have the opportunity to do that. This was a good win but there are more tests ahead."
Promoter, Eddier Hearn went on to speak about the sheer dominance of Okolie and said:
"My goodness was he good enough. Not just good enough, an absolute masterclass," Hearn toldSky Sports. "The jab, the footwork, the right hand. The work on the inside, the spinning off."That was a good enough performance to beat any cruiserweight in the division, and that's what we want to do now. There has been much speculation about the next step for Lawrence, which many feel could be a step up to the Heavyweight division.
Eddie Hearn made their future plans very clear and said:"We don't want to muck around, we want to go straight for all the titles and unify the division and then move up to heavyweight"In terms of immediate goals, Okolie said he already has his eyes set on his next fight "I would like to fight Briedis next, he's the one I'd most like to go in with, Okolie said. "Obviously any champion Eddie can get, but the one I;ll be looking for is Briedis.", he added.
