A man has been airlifted to hospital after being shot by police in south-east London.
Multiple 999 reports of a man with a firearm on Creek Road, Greenwich, were made at approximately 14:30 BST. Firearms officers would respond shortly after. An eyewitness on the scene described seeing a man with an object that "looked like a semi-automatic 9mm or Glock-style gun.
"Scotland Yard have stated that a police firearm was discharged and that the man in question sustained a gunshot injury.His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The man was transferred to hospital after being treated on the scene.In a statement, the Met said: "While the investigation is in its early stages, this incident is not believed to be terror-related or that there is an ongoing threat to the wider public.
"An eyewitness, Clare Thomas, informed the BBC that the man "had duct tape around his hand and the gun was in his left". She would go on to add that the he was "in his 30s to 40s" and "wearing a red top".Gemma Daly commented that after hearing some shouting and then a "big bang", that she saw the "police were attending to a man on the side of the bridge".The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have stated: "Our investigators have been sent to the scene and the post-incident procedures to start gathering evidence."
