MOM AND CHEF CONFIRMED DEAD AFTER NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL STABBINGS

A mother and a chef have been confirmed dead after falling victim to stabbings at Notting Hill Carnival.

Mother-of-one, Cher Maximen, 32, tragically died this morning after being stabbed at the carnival she attended with her child last Sunday.

The stabbing allegedly took place after Cher confronted a man who had pushed over her young child.

The attacker is said to have then pulled out a zombie knife, stabbing the victim in front of her child.

Police officers assisted Cher with emergency treatment until the paramedics arrived, taking her to the hospital in critical condition.

A 20-year-old man named Shakiel Thibou was arrested on Tuesday and charged with attempted murder.

It is unclear whether Shakiel's charge will be updated following Cher's death.

The leading investigator on the case said: "My thoughts are with Cher's loved ones as they come to terms with this terrible loss.

"They are being supported by specialist officers and we will make sure that support continues."

The second victim was a chef, Mussie Imnetu, 41, who was visiting the UK for business purposes.

The Swedish national, who worked and resided in Dubai, was attacked in a separate incident which left him unconscious with a head injury late Monday evening.

Mussie had previously worked under renowned chefs Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Warering and also leaves behind an 8-year-old son.

In relation to Mussie's attack, a man named Omar Wilson, 31, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The investigation lead said: "Mussie's family, friends and colleagues in London, Dubai, Sweden and Eritrea are inconsolable after receiving the worst news imaginable - our thoughts are with them and they are being supported by specialist officers."

Police have also called for victims who were in the area of Queensway at the time of the murder to come forward with any information.

They currently aim to piece together Mussies movements between 1pm where he left The Arts Club on Dover Street, and 10:30pm where he arrived at Dr Power restaurant in Queensway, where he was fatally attacked.

Notting Hill Carnival have issued a statement regarding the attacks.
