OnlyFans have announced that it will be temporarily pausing the accounts of Russian Creators amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.
OnlyFans have released a statement to say that they will be pausing the accounts of Russian creators.The subscription-based platform which shows adult content have said that it can "no longer properly serve" the Russian creator community.The decision is reportedly due to the ongoing restrictions to and from Russia as they insisted they had to "temporarily pause accounts where payments are received in Russia."At the start of the Russia / Ukraine war, OnlyFans initially blocked Russian creator's accounts however reinstated the accounts days later.
They explained at the time: "accounts will have full functionalities as long as we continue to have payment methods to support them." Now, the platform have announced that they can no longer support Russian content creators. The company said that they "explored several options" to continue providing services to the creators impacted by the Russia / Ukraine war, but a further tightening of payment restrictions to and from Russia" has prevented it from effectively serving those with an account.OnlyFans are just one platform that has become inaccessible to Russian creators.
Craft and Merchandise company Etsy issued a suspension of Russian storefronts on their site as well as YouTube content creators similarly forced to find new ways of income.One of the Russian content creators named Bisexcouplefamilyfree, spoke to Motherboard (VICE) about the recent change: "We can't work for OnlyFans now," they said. "We have been working on this platform for a year, and now we have to start all over again. It is a pity that all Russians are now perceived as enemies. But not everyone supports the war. And many continue to express their position, despite the fact that it is dangerous in Russia."
