The owner of the infamous Peckham Hair Shop, Sohail Sindho, who was seen in a viral clip strangling a customer, has stated he is now penniless.
After being captured on film in a heated dispute involving a refund, a store owner shared he's suffered total losses despite the business-owner allegedly owning many other businesses.
Sohail Sindho, south London local businessman, describes his dyer circumstances, with his children subsisting on just bread for a month.
His shop, Peckham Hair and Cosmetics, which he's managed for years, has seen a severe decline in business as locals boycott it and discourage others from shopping there. As a result, Sindho has stated he has no choice but to sell his establishment and go into seclusion due to the £700,000 in losses incurred since the incident on September 11.
Protests outside the beauty store on Rye Lane have led to its frequent closures, while signs have been posted, declaring its shutdown, by members of the community upset about violence against women and black communities.
Sohail has retreated to the safety of the countryside. He added he has since been forced to withdraw his children from school due to concerns about potential harm.
Sohail remarked that the impact on his mental well-being over the last month has been distressing. He stated - "I have nothing in my pocket now, and I'm living off loans from my friends and family." Adding: "Things are getting worse every day. My kids haven't had a warm meal in a month, they have been eating bread with jam, and chocolate."
When someone is going about their usual life, and then something like this occurs, it's transformative," he explained. He, however, emphasised that he doesn't feel the slightest bit intimidated by the demonstrators.
All his actions are simply a precautionary measure to ensure his family's safety. He stated:” If these people think I'm scared of them, they're mistaken."
