US pastor, Michael Todd, has gone viral after a controversial video emerged of him rubbing spit in his brother's face during a Sunday sermon.

The incident took place during a Sunday sermon at the Transformation Church in Tulsa, US. The pastor was speaking about how receiving a vision from God might get nasty. He says: "And this is where most people would not face Jesus anymore. What most people would do would [be to] turn away." In the video, Todd spits into his hand twice before rubbing the spit onto his brother's face. The members of his church can be heard gasping at what they have seen.

After the backlash, Todd took to Instagram to clear up the video and apologised for what he did during his sermon. He said: "I just wanted to acknowledge what happened yesterday when the spit hit the fan. I watched it back, and it was disgusting. Like, that was gross. I want to validate everybody's feelings, that that was a distraction to what I was really trying to do. I was really trying to make the word come alive and for people to see the story, but yesterday it got too live, and I own that."
