Cardiff citizens are said to be eating pet food and heating their food with radiators, according to a community worker
People in Cardiff are reportedly eating pet food to cope with the cost of living crisis.Many citizens are even using radiators to warm their foods.Mark Seed, who runs The Pantry - a community food projectin Trowbridge, east Cardiff - told the BBC: "I'm still shocked by the fact that we have people who are eating pet food.
"[There are] people who are trying to heat their food on a radiator or a candle. These are shocking kind of stories that are actually the truth."
He added: "Cardiff is a flourishing city however there are pockets of deprivation which are simply not acceptable."
Mark's The Pantry provides low priced food to its 160 members.Speaking about how The Pantry has helped her during these times,Elizabeth Williams, 54, said it"makes a lot of difference".She continued: "I usually go without to try to make things better in my house.
"Even with my son working - and he contributes as well - it's difficult because he has to live as well and he's got needs. He has got several things wrong [with him] and he's waiting for surgery."
Elizabeth lives with her partner and son, who works long hours.
