Police have arrested a woman after a viral video swept social media of a prison officer having sex with an inmate in an HMP Wandsworth jail cell. The suspect – believed to be Linda De Sousa Abreu, 31, is being held on suspicion of misconduct on public office after police arrested her yesterday. She is understood to have recently quit her job as a prison officer in the South London jail following the scandal.

It comes after details emerged of Abreu appearing on a Channel Four documentary about threesomes and orgies. Abreu and her husband Nathan were featured in “Open House: The Great Sex Experiment” in which couples explored the parameters of their relationships at a luxury country escape. It was shown last year. A woman has been arrested following the emergence of a video that appears to show a prison officer engaging in sexual activity with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth.

The Metropolitan Police previously announced an investigation into the footage, which reportedly originated from the scandal-hit prison in southwest London and was widely shared on social media.

The timing of the footage, which shows an officer in uniform, remains unknown. On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that a woman was arrested on Friday on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

This incident comes two months after a watchdog recommended the prison be placed under emergency measures due to significant security failures and severe issues related to overcrowding, drugs, violence, and self-harm.

Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor had written to Justice Secretary Alex Chalk, issuing an urgent notification for improvements at the category B Victorian jail following "deeply concerning" inspection findings.

The video in question, which has caused shockwaves online, sees a female prison office, wearing her uniform during the explicit clip. It begins with her performing a sex act on the unidentified prisoner at the Category A jail in south-west London. The friend who is smoking while recording says: “Guys we've made history, this is what I'm telling you.”

The prison officer's radio, left on a side table, crackles constantly with her colleagues heard on the other channels. At one point, someone appears to try to come into the cell, at which the man filming, can be heard saying to the person on the other side of the door "give me a minute, one second." The prisoner filming tells his friend to carry on and then pans the camera round to himself, grinning,: "This is how we roll in Wandsworth." He then tells his friend having engaging in intercourse with the officer: "You know you're gangster innit!"
