The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced the birth of their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.Lillibet was born on Friday morning at 11:40 am local time in Santa Barbara, California weighing 7lbs 11oz.

The couple has said in a statement that both mother and child are healthy.

Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are "wishing them all well" after hearing the news.Buckingham Palace said:

"The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news."Prince Harry and Meghan have said that they have named their daughter Lilibet as it is a nickname used for the Queen, who is her great-grandmother.The name 'Diana' has also been used which is in tribute to Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana of Wales.On their Archwell website, they said: "On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe.

"Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."The couple has received congratulations from many, such as Boris Johnson, who sent "many congratulations" to the family, as well as Labour Leader Keir Starmer, who described the birth as "wonderful news".In March 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals.

More recently, they opened up about their reasons for doing so in an interview with Oprah, which included alleged comments about the race of their son.Prince Harry has also opened up about wanting to "end the cycle of suffering" with his children, and reflected on the difficulties with his mental health growing up, and spoke about turning to drugs and alcohol to deal with the loss of his mother.

Despite a difficult year, the family are now settling into their new home in California, and with the addition of baby Lillibet, hopefully, more happy memories are to come.We send our congratulations to the family!
