UK legend Rodney P has released a statement speaking about the domestic abuse allegations made against him last year by his ex, Myvanwy Evans.

The woman alleged that he struck her in the face and grabbed her throat, in an attack she says she feared would be "a lights out moment". She said she met Edwards in the hip-hop scene around London almost 30 years ago.

She said the DJ wasn't violent during their relationship, but things changed after he heard she had started seeing someone else following the split.After almost a year after these accusations came to light, Rodney P has finally come out on social media to address the issue. He said he went to the police first before releasing the statement as he likes to follow the "order of things"

He called the allegations a targeted campaign

Rodney revealed that the ex launched a targeted campaign against him to his former employers and companies he has worked with, such as the BBC and his record label; which had a knock on effect on him and his family."There are things in past past that I am truly ashamed off and I'd like to thank my wife because over the years we've worked extremely hard to move forward", he said.

Adding that his ex; Myvanwy Evans launched a baseless targeted attack.Rodney P, real name Rodney Panton Edwards, is regarded as a pioneer of British rap music and has been christened by some as "the godfather of British hip-hop".He was a member of the hip-hop group London Posse, which in the 1980s and 1990s is credited with giving British rap music its own identity. He began presenting a BBC Radio 1Xtra show, called The Original Fever, in 2002. It lasted just for over six years
