TikTok Influencer Mahek Bukhari and Her Mother Jailed for Life for Double Murder
Mahek Bukhari, who was once known for her TikTok fashion videos, will now be appealing her conviction, after being sentenced to life in prison for double murder.
Mahek Bukhari, a prominent TikTok influencer, and her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, have been sentenced to life in prison following the pair being found guilty of a double murder. The case follows a sequence of events which began by a sex tape threat, leading to a high-speed car chase that ended in the deaths of two individuals.
After a lengthy trial at Leicester Crown Court saw, Mahek Bukhari, aged 24, and her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, aged 46, were both found guilty of the murders. The victims, Saqib Hussain and Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21 years old, tragically lost their lives in a horrific car accident. Their Skoda vehicle "virtually split in two" and caught fire after leaving the A46 dual carriageway near Leicester, ultimately colliding with a tree on February 11, 2022.
The motive behind the incident was rooted in a sex tape threat made by Mr. Hussain. He had been involved in an affair with Ansreen Bukhari, Mahek's mother, and had allegedly threatened to expose their relationship. This threat resulted in a back and forth between the mother-daughter duo and the 21-year-old.
During the sentencing, Mahek Bukhari was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 31 years and eight months in prison. Ansreen Bukhari also received a life sentence, with a minimum term of 26 years and nine months behind bars. Two other individuals, Rekan Karwan and Raees Jamal, were involved in carrying out the murders and were both sentenced to life imprisonment as well. Karwan received a minimum term of 26 years and 10 months, while Jamal was given a minimum of 31 years in prison.
In addition to those directly involved in the murders, three others who were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter also received sentences. Natasha Akhtar, aged 23, was jailed for 11 years and eight months, while Ameer Jamal, aged 28, and Sanaf Gulamustafa, aged 23, were sentenced to 14 years and eight months and 14 years and nine months, respectively, for two counts of manslaughter. All of them were present in the two vehicles, an Audi TT and a Seat Leon, used in the fatal car chase.
