A Ukrainian refugee who entered a relationship with her UK host, a married man, has insisted that she is not a "homewrecker" to The Sun.22-year-old Sofiia Karkadym fled the city of Lviv in western Ukraine and crossed the border to Poland as the war with Russia was occurring. 29-year-old Tony Garnett and his 28-year-old wife, Lorna, offered to sponsor her stay in the UK. Karkadym accepted their offer and moved in with the couple and their two daughters.Ten days later, Lorna had accused Karkadym of pursuing a relationship with her husband. Karkadym packed her belongings and was ready to leave the family's home.

Her husband, Tony, said: "If she's going, I'm going." He packed up some of his belongings and ran off with Karkadym.Karkadym shared her side of the story: "I am not a homewrecker. That's b*****t. I never thought or planned to go into their home and take Tony from Lorna."She continued: "That never crossed my mind. I liked the family. I spent a lot of time with Lorna and I tried to help her. But she was two-faced.

Her constant suspicions, the tension, it just pushed me and Tony closer together. She created this situation by constantly suggesting something was going on when it wasn't. So this is her fault."Karkadym insisted that she was not at fault as "they destroyed their relationship long before I arrived". She went on to say: "We know what happened between us. Their relationship was at fault. None of this is my work. It was my decision to leave when I did and Tony decided to come with me."On her arrival to the UK, Karkadym said: "When I landed in the UK and got off the plane I was so so happy, I cannot even explain my emotions at that moment. I was happy because I felt like I could finally start my new life without being worried or scared. It was really nice just to see a friendly face and to communicate with him."
