Former Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens and four other murderers are set to have their prison sentences reviewed by senior judges this Wednesday.

In March 2021, Wayne Couzens murdered Sarah Everard. In September he was given a whole life sentence for the crime, however, this is set to be reviewed after an appeal.Couzens was a Metropolitan Police officer who used his warrant card and handcuffs to kidnap Sarah Everard when he found her walking home. He used COVID-19 lockdown rules as the premise for the false arrest in south London

.Five senior judges are set to review Couzens case, and four other murderers, at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday.Emma Tustin and Thomas Hughes' cases are also up for review. They were jailed for 29 and 21 years respectively in December 2021 for the murder of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, a six-year-old boy.Arthur was poisoned, starved and beaten by the couple in what was described as a prolonged campaign of "evil abuse."Peter Halcrow, Arthur's maternal grandfather, told The Sun upon the pairs conviction that "they must never see the light of day again.

No punishment could ever be enough for this pair."I have never favoured the death penalty because I know mistakes can be made by courts, but in my view they have forfeited their right to live."Attorney General Suella Braverman has made an application for their sentences to be reconsidered in case they were "unduly lenient."She has also made an application for the sentence of Jordan Monaghan, who was jailed for a minimum of 40-years for murdering his partner and two children.Monaghan smothered his daughter Ruby, aged 24 days, as she slept on New Year's Day in 2013. The following day he would do the same to Logan, aged 21 months, after taking him to a local swimming pool.

Six years later, he would take the life of Evie Adams via a drug overdose.Ian Stewart was found guilty of murdering his wife, Diane Stewart, in 2010, six years before he later killed his fiancee, Helen Bailey.Stewart was given a life prison sentence, with a minimum term of 34-years before he could be considered for parole. However, this conviction has been appealed.
