Police have taken the unusual step of releasing images of two teenagers sought in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old boy on a bus. Kelyan Bokassa was killed on January 7 while travelling on the Route 472 bus in Woolwich, southeast London.
In a statement today, authorities announced they are searching for 15-year-old Colin Chabikwa and 16-year-old Mosawar Zazi in connection with the tragic incident. CCTV footage showing the two teenagers onboard a bus has also been shared with the public to aid in the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah expressed her condolences stating:
“My thoughts are with Kelyan’s family and friends during this devastating time. His death has deeply impacted the Woolwich community, and I want to thank residents for their cooperation and support.”
She added:
“Our officers have conducted increased weapons searches, reassurance patrols, and house-to-house inquiries. While I understand these efforts may be disruptive, they are essential, and I appreciate your patience."
“Our team of detectives is working tirelessly to find those responsible for Kelyan’s murder. We urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of Chabikwa and Zazi to contact us immediately by calling 999. “If you see them, do not approach but contact the police right away.”
The Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a stabbing at 2:28 pm on Tuesday, January 7 on Woolwich Church Street, near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road.
Emergency responders, including officers, paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance, arrived swiftly, but despite their efforts, the 14-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Specially trained officers are providing support to Kelyan’s grieving family as investigations continue.
