A 14-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after being stabbed on a bus in London this afternoon, prompting police to initiate a murder investigation. Emergency services were rushed to a street in Woolwich after receiving a call just before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Images shared online show several police and ambulance vehicles surrounding a red double-decker bus, where the boy was attacked in front of shocked passengers. The incident took place on the Route 472 bus along Woolwich Church Road, near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road.

The bus remains parked at a stop on the road this evening, surrounded by police vehicles, near a block of flats by the Woolwich ferry terminal. No arrests have been made yet, and the search for the suspect is ongoing. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, but he sadly passed away shortly after their arrival. The Metropolitan Police have cordoned off the area, causing major traffic disruptions on the busy South Circular road, a key route leading to the Thames River crossing.

Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, expressed his condolences: "My thoughts are with the family, friends, and wider community in Greenwich following this horrific fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old boy. This senseless violence has no place in our city. I am in close contact with police leaders—an investigation is ongoing, and local residents will see increased patrols in the area."

The fatal incident was attended by the Met Police, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance. Later This evening, Chief Superintendent Louise Sargent addressed the media at the scene, stating that detectives are working urgently to identify and apprehend the suspect. She offered her condolences to the boy's family and friends, saying, "This is an awful crime, and I can't imagine what they are going through at this time. I know this is a deeply concerning moment for everyone in Woolwich, especially given the victim’s young age.
