WIRELESS FESTIVAL RECIEVES BACKLASH FOR EARLY FINISH DUE TO EURO FINALS

Wireless Festival, which is renowned for its great lineups and fantastic vibes, is having the people question the festival's loyalties to the people. There has been cancellations in the past of popular artists and no-shows of favourable acts but this situation has truly vexed fans.

Wireless Festival has come under fire from fans after announcing an early finish at 7 PM on Sunday to accommodate the Euro Finals. The decision has sparked significant backlash, with many attendees feeling short-changed and voicing their frustrations on social media.

The festival, which runs from 12-14 July 2024 at Finsbury Park in London, made the announcement to allow fans to watch the highly anticipated football match between Spain and England. However, this decision has not sat well with many festival-goers who feel their experience is being cut short.

Comments on social media reflect the widespread discontent. One user, @jaydxnrhxle, suggested, "should’ve just played it on the screens there," echoing a sentiment shared by many who believe the match could have been broadcasted within the festival grounds rather than shortening the event.

Another user, @negnsrv, expressed disbelief: "Are you serious? We paid so much for a 7 PM curfew and 2 cancelled artists? I can’t believe this." This comment highlights a major point of contention – the alleged cancellation of popular acts such as Tyla and Digga D, which has added to the disappointment.

The criticism continued with @avalonnolava stating, "The audacity! We aretravelling all the way from the Netherlands, just so you can watch the game? Really?" This highlights the frustration of international attendees who had made significant efforts to attend the festival.

Other fans were concerned about the lack of transparency regarding set times, with @monochrome_ego noting, "I knew there was a reason why they weren’t dropping the set times."

Some fans even demanded refunds, with @georgialouise.0 asking, "Are you going to be giving everyone their money back then?" The question of refunds and compensation remains a pressing issue among the disgruntled attendees.

While some fans acknowledged the importance of the Euro Finals, they argued that it should not have interfered with the festival schedule. @thejman8gd remarked, "What does football have to do with a music festival? They are two different cultures! Believe it or not but some people are not interested in a football being kicked about religiously."

The festival organisers have yet to respond to the backlash or provide any further clarification on the changes. As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Wireless Festival will address the grievances of its attendees.

Residents, can we still trust wireless?
