Melanie Kamayou, the wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, was said to be "devastated" after being 'robbed' of roughly £62,000 in luxury items.
Kamayou and Onana tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2023 and she moved to the UK with the Cameroonian star after he signed to Manchester United for an initial £43.8 million in 2023. The pair settled in the affluent area of Alderley Edge, dubbed the "Knightsbridge of the North". The wealthy Cheshire village has attracted many prominent footballers in the past, including David Beckham,Cristiano Ronaldo and Rio Ferdinand.
Whilst the couple keep a relatively low profile, they reportedly share a son together as Kamayou describes herself as a "mother, businesswoman and philanthropist" on her Instagram page and even holds a doctorate in pharmacy.
On March 29th, Kamayou was in the car park outside of an Italian restaurant in Alderley Edge, when robbers stole two extremely expensive items from her. Believe it or not, the 60k car park robbery was not a car theft but rather the theft of Kamayou’s personal items. Most people do not own two items with a combined value of over 60k, however Kamayou was adorned in luxury items the day of the robbery. Reportedly, Kamayou was robbed of both a Hermes Birkin bag as well and a Rolex watch.
The social media star and model, also works as the co-chair for Onana's charity supporting children - the Andre Onana Foundation. According to reports, Kamayou had to cancel a work trip to her home country Cameroon the following day, after the frightening ordeal left her “devastated”.
It didn’t take long for a suspect to be caught in the picture perfect village. After an incident that has previously left many London police officers chasing their tails, Cheshire police chased several leads back to 25-year-old Liam Ross. The alleged thief is scheduled to appear at Chester Crown Court in May.
