RAPPER DIGDAT CONVICTED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER IN LONDON DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

Nathan Tokosi, widely recognised by his stage name DigDat, has been found guilty of attempted murder following a drive-by shooting in west London. The 25-year-old rapper was implicated in an attack where multiple shots were fired at a man in Notting Hill on November 20, 2023. The Old Bailey heard that DigDat was among those in a stolen Audi from which at least six rounds were discharged at 27-year-old Daniel Offei-Ntow, striking him in the head, mouth, and body. Prosecutor Kate Bex KC emphasized that Offei-Ntow was "fortunate to survive."

Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing that the shooter aimed directly at Offei-Ntow’s head. Firearms officers later discovered the victim gravely injured in his nearby residence on Clydesdale Road. Upon being transported to the hospital, surgeons extracted bullet fragments from his skull. Despite his injuries, Offei-Ntow refused to provide a witness statement or participate in the trial, the court was informed. Authorities recovered the getaway vehicle over a mile from the crime scene, along with a bag containing a firearm and three rounds of ammunition wrapped in clingfilm.

The prosecution presented evidence indicating that DigDat had traveled from his father’s home in Deptford to the vicinity of the shooting in a BMW on November 18 and 19. Additionally, forensic analysis revealed that DNA found on a rear seat headrest in the Audi could be linked to him. Another DNA sample recovered from the vehicle was traced to musician Kamal Benjamin, known as Wesson.

Investigations revealed that Benjamin had left the UK in November 2023 and was residing in Dubai during the time of the shooting. His Instagram posts showcased videos from a Lil Durk concert in Dubai that same month, along with footage of him at a nightclub with rapper 50 Cent, who performed there in December 2023. DigDat, hailing from Deptford in south-east London, was also convicted of possessing a firearm—specifically, a self-loading pistol—with intent to endanger life, as well as possessing 9mm ammunition with the same intent. Additional charges included possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition without a firearms certificate. Sentencing for DigDat is expected at a later date.
