In their recent issue, Heat Magazine faced significant backlash after omitting Love Island 2025 finalists Catherine Agbaje and Omar Nyame from their print coverage. The segment was entitled: "Life After The Villa." The couple, who secured fourth place in the competition, were notably absent from the magazine's feature, while the fifth-place finishers - Elma Pazar and Sammy Root - were included.
A social media user highlighted this discrepancy, writing to them on Instagram, "Why they where not in the article as 4th place but 5th place was there @heatworld." In response, Heat Magazine issued an apology on stating: "Hey, we completely hold our hands up and know that Omar and Catherine should have been included in the print article. It was a huge oversight and we apologise for the offence their exclusion caused. We will do better in the future." The apology was posted underneath a video of Catherine and Omar dancing to Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us."
The Love Island 2025 season concluded with Casey O'Gorman and Gabby Allen being crowned the winners, while Grace Jackson and Luca Bish secured second place. Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Curtis Pritchard finished third, followed by Catherine and Omar in fourth place. Elma Pazar and Sammy Root rounded out the top five.
Despite their fourth-place finish, Catherine and Omar have garnered a substantial fanbase, with many expressing disappointment over their exclusion from the magazine feature. On our Instagram page one of our Residents wrote: "We're not gonna act like this isn’t racism." A second added: "Oversight my foot. Do you know how many people would have seen this feature before it was published? Do better. This was deliberate." A third agreed: "All the editors at the magazine &nobody noticed… It’s not even micro aggression at this point it’s blatantly obvious."
