Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on their second wedding anniversary. The singer and actress submitted the request - without lawyers - at the Los Angeles county superior court. Rumors of the A-List couple's alleged separation had been circulating for months, with sightings of the two together becoming less and less frequent. The "On The Floor" singer, 55, chose Tuesday, August 20, which is also their second wedding anniversary to file for divorce. For Jennifer, this is her fourth marriage to end in divorce, while for Ben, it is the second.

In May, the couple put their marital home in Beverly Hills, worth $68 million, up for sale, a year after purchasing it for $60 million. Additionally, the couple had spent almost the entire summer apart. Ben did not even attend Jennifer's Bridgerton themed 55th birthday party in the Hamptons at the end of July. A few days after he was a no-show at her birthday, Ben signed a lease for a new bachelor apartment worth $20.5 million in the Pacific Palisades. The couple have not been photographed together since June 2, 2024, and both have been seen in public without their wedding rings.

Sources have speculated that the demise of their relationship came from Jennifer's insistence on going public on private aspects of their relationship. Fans saw Ben and Jennifer's romance play out in her documentary, "The Greatest Love Story Never Told." In the film, Ben discovered Jennifer had shared his love letters that he had kept private for more than twenty years.

Affleck was said to be "taken aback" she had shared them as it revealed he kept in touch with the singer during his 13-year marriage to Jennifer Garner. The couple first became tabloid fodder dubbed “Bennifer” when they first dated in the early 2000s. They got engaged before a high-profile split in 2004. However, they rekindled the romance in 2021 and married in Las Vegas the following year. They then threw a wedding ceremony for friends and family on August 20, 2022, at Affleck’s sprawling estate in Savannah, Georgia. Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, officially parted ways months ago, on April 26, the court papers reveal, while there is no mention of any pre-nuptial agreement.

There are already rumours of “acrimonious” talks behind the scenes about splitting their wealth, including from film deals and Lopez’s music career.  Affleck and ex-wife Jennifer Garner share three kids: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. While Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
