British YouTuber and rapper Yung Filly, known for his comedic videos and music career, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday, where he admitted to reckless driving. The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was caught driving at 158 kilometers per hour (98 mph) in a 100 kph (62 mph) zone last month.
Under Western Australian law, speeding over 45 kph (28 mph) above the limit is classified as reckless driving. His lawyer, Joanne Oliver, confirmed that Barrientos intends to formally plead guilty to the charge during his next court appearance on January 30.
The reckless driving charge carries significant penalties, including a potential prison sentence of up to nine months, a fine of AUD 6,000 ($3,750), and a mandatory six-month driving ban.
Barrientos, who is also awaiting trial for allegedly raping a woman three months ago, did not make any public statements as he left the courthouse. Dressed casually in a white T-shirt and jeans, he quickly exited to a waiting vehicle.
The rape charge, unrelated to the driving offense, has brought increased scrutiny to the entertainer, whose career includes a strong social media presence and collaborations in the UK music and content creation industry.
Barrientos’ legal battles continue as he faces serious consequences for both sets of charges. The case has garnered widespread media attention in both Australia and the UK, raising questions about the impact on his public persona and career.
