Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel is looking less lonely than one might expect from indefinite incarceration as his Turkish fiancee tells all in a recent interview about the pair's "loving" romance.
Sidem Ozturk, Turkish, worked as a social worker in London before leaving it all behind and moving to Kingston, Jamaica to be closer to the love of her life. When asked how the engagement became official, Ozturk responded,"We were just calling each other hubby and wifey, and he was like, "Calling you wifey or you calling me hubby is not serious enough; so he was like, "You are my fiancee, we're gonna get married".
The proposal of course took place during an authorised visit the woman made to her partner, who is currently serving life imprisonment for the 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.Ozturk revealed that the two began corresponding in 2015 whilst she was still in the UK. It was only after four years the psychology graduate decided to pack up and move to Kingston to be closer to the artist whose real name is Adidja Palmer.
"He's smart. I love his heart; he's got an amazing heart. He's so giving; he's so loving. I like to call him my angel. He's an angel in my life, and I can't deny the way he makes me feel and how happy he makes me feel. So, to actually be here, in Jamaica, engaged to Addi is a dream come true. I still haven't processed it properly in my head," she continued. Ozturk is now also the muse to Kartel's latest project, the 'True Religion' EP.
Despite a romantic engagement, there is no engagement ring and the woman shared how they wish to tattoo each other's names on their ring fingers as an alternative. It was in 2018 that reports were shared regarding the end of Kartel's marriage with his long-time wife, Tanesha 'Shorty' Johnson. The couple has three children together, two of whom are also pursuing music careers.
