32-YEAR-OLD NIGERIAN WOMAN DIES DURING CHILDBIRTH IN LONDON

A 32-year-old mum tragically died minutes after giving birth, leaving her husband to raise their newborn alone. Temitope Elizabeth Soneye Iwute suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after delivering baby Ethan via c-section and never got to hold him. Her final words to her husband, Tony, were, “I can’t breathe,” despite hospital staff’s efforts to save her.

Temitope had been admitted to Croydon University Hospital on January 19 for abdominal pain, with doctors deciding on an emergency c-section. While the procedure initially went as planned, she began struggling to breathe shortly after. Temitope, who had recently completed a master’s in digital marketing, was looking forward to her graduation in March.

Her husband, Tony, described himself as “a broken man” and thanked the community for their support. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with funeral costs, and donations can be made at: www.gofundme.com/f/temitope-elizabeth-soneye-iwute.

The GoFundMe appeal aims to give Temitope a dignified farewell and provide her baby with the love and stability she would have wanted. Donations will ensure the child’s future, including education and a stable home.

“This unimaginable loss has left us heartbroken,” Elor added, calling on Nigerians and the UK community for financial and emotional support during this challenging time.
