The Brixton O2 Academy may have its licence suspended after a tragic incident saw two people die at the venue just last week.
It was reported that 3,000 people stormed the venue in hopes to gain access into Nigerian singer, Asake's, concert.
A licensing hearing is being held today (December 22nd 2022) at Lambeth council where the facts of the incident will be heard.
This comes after security worker Gabrielle Hutchinson became the second person to die on Monday morning (December 19th) after the incident.
The other victim, Rebecca Ikumelo, was the first person to unfortunately pass away. She left behind two children.
Following the news of the second death last week, Met Police Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, policing commander for Lambeth and Southwark, commented: "It is devastating news that a second person has lost their life following the events on Thursday. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gaby's family at this unimaginably difficult time."
Academy Music Group, which owns and runs music venues across the UK, said in a statement: "All at O2 Academy Brixton and Academy Music Group are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic death of Rebecca Ikumelo. We send our heartfelt condolences to Rebecca"s family and friends, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this devastating news at this extremely difficult time.
Management and security staff at O2 Academy Brixton are yet to be interviewed about the events of December 15th.
The committee has now retired to make a decision on the matter but the venue has agreed to voluntarily close until a full licensing review is held in January 2023.
