British rapper and singer Shaybo, known offstage as Laura Adeola Adegbite, has publicly accused her former management company, DEFIGO, of defrauding her of £20,000. The allegations surfaced on social media, where Shaybo claimed that the company misappropriated funds during their professional relationship. She claimed in a series of screenshots and a video that they stole money from her meant for her music videos and falsified invoices.

In response, DEFIGO issued a statement denying the accusations, asserting that all financial dealings were conducted transparently and in accordance with their contractual obligations. They claim in fact they tried their hardest to help and support Shaybo - including paying £13,000 for her rent arrears and £7,000 cash to help her with personal expenses. The management and consultancy company expressed disappointment over the public nature of the dispute and emphasized their commitment to resolving the matter privately.

When the public exchange was posted on our Instagram page, our Residents were mixed on who they believed. But all were agreed that business management should be taught from school age. One Resident wrote: "If you do music go take a music business course or learn the ins and out before getting management /deal." Another added: "And this is why they need to make business management and entrepreneurial and contractual skills a whole compulsory subject in school." A third chimed in, writing: "Welcome to the music industry love make sure they don’t own your masters. You should have kept it with the lawyers but this is what happens when you seek fame before understanding how clued up you need to be about the music BUSINESS. It’s ruthless."

Shaybo, often referred to as the "Queen of the South," has been a prominent figure in the UK music scene, known for her distinctive blend of rap and Afrobeat influences.
