Benjamin Mendy Found Not Guilty of One Count of Rape as Trial Continues

Benjamin Mendy (Man City) has been cleared of one count of rape whilst the ongoing trial proceeds.

Man City star Benjamin Mendy was today cleared of one count of rape and his alleged "fixer of three other sex charges" after a tape of one of the encounters was revealed in court. His co-defendant and friend, Louis Saha Matturie, was also cleared of two counts of rape and one of sexual assault both against the same woman.

Mr Mendy, who is 28, was today cleared at Chester Crown Court of the rape of a 19-year-old woman at his home in Cheshire, Greater Manchester. Co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, 41, was also found not guilty of two counts of rape against the same woman.

Some court transcripts from today began with Lisa Wilding, KC, for Mr Saha, saying 'Woman Seven' had gone to his home to have sex. Whilst he then began to film it on his mobile phone.

Miss Wilding said: 'When you had sex with Saha, you and he filmed that sex, didn't you?

'You know that you and he had a discussion beforehand and said words to the effect of 'let's make our own little movie'.

'And he had his phone in his hand right in front of you throughout the time that you and he were having sex.

'And you looked directly at the camera more than once enjoying what you were doing?

'You had sex initially with you on your knees and him behind you. You then gave him oral sex, didn't you?

'Did you give him oral sex looking at the camera that was in his hand at the time?

'Did you then sit on top of him gyrating and smiling, looking at the camera?'

The woman, who was sobbing, denied knowing that Matturie had filmed it and said: 'No, I didn't consent to have sex with him?'

The jury was told the sex lasted around 20 minutes.

The woman claimed to be  'ashamed' about having sex with Matturie and continued to deny Miss Wilding's claims that she was 'making noises and moaning as if you were sexually excited.'

The court was told how the victim, Woman Seven, later was sending videos of food she was eating while on holiday to Mr Saha.

Miss Wilding claims that woman Seven had made up the allegations that she had been raped and sexually assaulted after speaking with her friends.

Miss Wilding continued: 'Did you then become a bit embarrassed about the fact that you had been happily engaging in a sexual relationship with a man who was older than you?

'It was when in discussion with your friends they started saying to you 'what's between you and him is weird because he is older, that you decided to say what he had done to you was rape.'

The woman, who was giving evidence at Chester Crown Court, denied this.

Both men remain on trial for other alleged sexual offences which they both currently deny.
