South-London born rapper Fekky has proved once again that he knows the true spirit of the holidays with his 5th annual turkey drive.
Father Fekky set up his CC Foundation in 2020 with a pledge to put food on the tables of “struggling families” and has since given away over 10,000 turkeys! The foundation highlights the fact that the turkey is often considered the most expensive part of a Christmas meal and can add further financial pressure around the holidays.
The CC foundation was affectionately named after two of his sons Capree and Cuben, who could be seen this year and in previous years living up to their job as Santa's little helpers as they assisted their dad in handing out the poultry from his van.
There’s no doubt that Fekky is instilling some great foundations into his own sons, but he’s also used the foundation to support young people from across the country. In addition to their infamous annual drive, the foundation holds a weekly food bank, connects people to employment opportunities and Fekky has even begun discussing their aim to open up the CC Trade School where young people can learn financial literacy and more.
What began as a local Lewisham give-back initiative has evolved before our eyes over the last few years. In 2020 Fekky was able to feed just over 1400 families and by 2022 he teamed up with Subway, receiving an £80,000 sponsorship to help donate over 7000 turkeys across the UK and Ireland. The foundation has also been supported by several notable figures over the years, including Ed Sheeran, Mo Gilligan, Raheem Sterling, and Anthony Joshua.
The 38-year-old has evolved into much more than a rapper throughout his career and can now be seen creating content from his farm in Kent, including his upcoming ‘Hood to Farm’ series where he endeavors to “learn all things farming”. Nonetheless, the South London rooted star has never lost his commitment to helping under served communities. In 2023, Fekky spoke on giving out food in his hometown:
“It felt really good, especially the fact I gave back to those in the community I came from…
Growing up there was always this feeling of being able to go next door and borrow things, and it would make all of us come together. And for me to be able to get brands to donate to my charity is a beautiful feeling, it brings back that old school feeling of coming together.”
His sleigh may be a black van covered in white snow flakes, with the words “Free Turkey and Chicken” written in gold on the side. His reindeers may be called Twin, Capree and Cuben rather than Rudolph and Prancer. But every year, Fekky Christmas proves that he doesn’t let the kids down. We hope to see more great work from the CC Foundation in 2025!
