Beyonce to Change new Song Lyrics after "offensive lyrics"

Beyonce is to re-record one of the new songs on her recent album, Renaissance due to an "offensive lyric".

The song titled 'Heated' was released on Friday and contained a term deemed derogatory towards people with spastic cerebral palsy.Beyonce's much anticipated seventh solo album was met with a favourable reception, however, some became outraged when they heard the following lyric in 'Heated': "Spin on that a**, sp on that a**. "The term in question is derived from the word "spastic".

The song was co-written by Drake as well as other writers and will now be re-recorded without the "ableist slur" for the condition spastic cerebral palsy, which affects sufferers' muscle coordination.

The singer's publicist told the BBC that the word, which can have different connotations in the US, was "not used intentionally in a harmful way".

They added that it "will be replaced in the lyrics, " without specifying when fans can expect this change.

The term is considered more offensive in the UK than in the US, where it is sometimes used as a synonym for "freaking out".

The disability equality charity, Scope described the mega star's use of the "deeply offensive term" as "appalling", while disability advocate Hannah Diviney said that the status of Beyonce as one of the most famous musicians in the world did not "excuse her use of ableist language".Only a few weeks ago, Lizzo encountered the same issue after releasing a single with the same term. Fans were similarly outraged leading to the singer publishing an official statement before changing the lyric of her song. She said: "Let me make one thing clear: I never want to promote derogatory language,"

"As a fat black woman in America, I've had many hurtful words used against me so I understand the power words can have (whether intentionally or in my case, unintentionally)."
