Boris Johnson Faces Investigation Over £15,000 Caribbean Holiday

Boris Johnson is currently being investigated after a Caribbean holiday he went on in 2019. Commons Standards Commissioner, Kathryn Stone, confirmed that the investigation would take a look at if Boris declared how he paid for the trip in the correct manner.

Previously, the PM declared that he recieved accomodation that was worth £15,000 from the owner of Carphone Warehouse, David Ross.

Downing Street deny that the Prime Minister breached any conduct with his actions.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The prime minister transparently declared the benefit in the Commons register of interests."

He added: "Clearly the rules are set out and it's important that everyone abides by them, as the prime minister has done throughout."

Labour, however, are not so sure and have questioned about the "genorosity" of Mr Ross.

Mr Ross claimed to have no involvement with Boris' trip intially, but eventually went on to say that he "facilitated" accomodation for Boris Johnson.

What Could This Mean For The PM?

Any MP is required to declare any visit that costs more than a total of £300 if they have not paid for this by themselves.

After the case has been investigated by the Commons Standards Committee, MP's can be told to apologise for their actions or pay back any money owed.

In extremely rare cases, MP's can be suspended as a result of their actions, but this requires the whole House Of Commons to be in agreement.

Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said the following: "The public have a right to know who paid for Boris Johnson's luxury Caribbean holiday and the renovation of his flat. Most importantly, we need to know what these donors were promised or expected in return for their generosity."
