Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to a sensational return to Manchester United after a whooping 12 years away from the club.
The 36-year-old footballer who left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid in 2009 will make his return with a two-year contract worth 15 million Euros; with a potential further β¬8m in add-ons according to ESPN.
Confirming the news, United posted a collage of Ronaldo from his previous playing days at the club on Twitter along with the caption: "Welcome home, @Cristiano."
An official statement from the team read: "Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical."
"Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career; including five Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cup, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.
"In his first spell for Manchester United, he scored 118 goals in 292 games. Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester.", the statement added.
Prior to this decision, Manchester City was one of the clubs that looked at the possibility of having Cristiano. However, it later pulled out on Friday leaving him to United.
Rio Ferdinand has also confirmed that he spoke to his former United teammate asking him not to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Ronaldo still remains one of the world's decorated players. The impact he will have on united's performance after his return is still unknown. Nonetheless, seeing him play for united one more time is definitely something fans would love to see.
