If you're a fan of African music, then Diamond Platnumz has probably been on your radar for a while now. Otherwise, you might recognise him from the hit Netflix show Young, Famous & African. For those of you who haven't been aquatinted with him yet, let us introduce you to Diamond Platnumz.Diamond, whose real name is Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, is a 32-year-old musician from Tanzania.
Fans love his unique music style, which incorporates sounds from across Africa, including Afrobeats, Afropop, and Amapiano. Issack is said to have brought Hollywood to Africa and was also the first African artist to reach a whopping 1 billion views on his YouTube channel, which highlights his status as a world-famous musician.Now, he's broken into the TV industry, starring in Netflix's new reality TV show, Young, Famous & African.
During the first season, we see Diamond navigate both his family and love life, all while staying on top of his career as an international superstar. is constantly stuck in a love triangle between Zari "The Boss Lady" Hassan, who is the hardworking mother of two of his children, and Nadia Nakai, a new flame who's caught his eye with her bold style and passion for music. In the series we get to see the personal side of Diamond, with famous lines like "this is my family", showing fans a vulnerability that is difficult to detect from his social media.
On the night of the First Of All launch party, held at the prestigious Mondrian in Shoreditch, we saw Diamond in the flesh, dressed in a stylish denim two-piece, iced out in jewels from head-to-toe, and of course, wearing his signature shades. Fans from Africa and beyond filled the venue and were eager to see him perform, with the likes of Madame Joyce, Kika Good Hair, Cocainna and the 90s Baby Show being spotted in the crowd.

Songs like "Loyal" and "Somebody" showcased his lover boy persona, which any helpless romantic can resonate with. The highlight of the evening was when he performed "Fresh", the last track on his project, which features fellow Amapiano musicians Pabi Cooper and Focalistic. With help from the popular Black British band the Compozers, Diamond was able to bring the entire crowd alive with his energy and outstanding live instruments.
As the night drew to an end, fans were reluctant to see Diamond leave and he bid us a heartfelt farewell before departing the stage, thanking fans from all around the world for showing up to support him.
