Kevin Spacey has been ordered by a Los Angeles court to pay approximately £22.4 million to the producer MRC behind the Netflix show House of Cardsdue to losses brought on by his firing for sexual misconduct, according to an arbitration decision made final on Monday.
A document that was filed to Los Angeles Superior Court revealed that the arbitrators found out, Spacey went against his professional code of conduct by involving in "certain conduct connection with several crew members each in of the five seasons that he starred in and executive produced House Of Cards".
MRC had to halt the production of its sixth season, rewrite it to wipe out Spacey's central character, shorten it from thirteen to eight episodes to meet deadlines which resulted to lots of cash losses.
"The safety of our employees, sets and work environments is of paramount importance to MRC and why we set out to push for accountability", MRC revealed in a statement on Monday, 22nd November.
The 62-year-old Grammy Award winner innitiallyappealed against the decision whichended not in his favour.
"MRC stood its ground, pursued this case doggedly, and obtained the right result in the end," plaintiff's attorney Michael Kump said in a statement.
