Music artist and entrepreneur Skepta is set to be the subject of a new documentary which is in the works at H.Wood media. Although the title and release date are two of many details that have not yet been revealed to the public, the project promises to be ‘stirring’ and already has several critically acclaimed crew members at the helm.
Among the talented people pulling the project together is BAFTA nominated director Hector Dockrill, who is set to co-direct the project. The rising director was hailed for his work on ‘Post Malone: Runaway‘ and his involvement has undoubtedly raised the expectations for this forthcoming project high.
The project is also the first production from a new creative partnership between Skepta’s production company, 1PLUS1 Production, and L.A.-based hospitality and lifestyle marketing company the H.Wood group. The documentary will be produced by Dwight Okechukwu for 1PLUS1 in partnership with John Terzian, Brian Toll and Jeremy Allen for H.Wood Media.
On the collaboration, John Terzian, who co-founded The h.wood Group a decade ago with his close friend Brian Toll, said:
“H.wood media is about telling the stories behind the personalities who shape culture and Skepta is undeniably the perfect subject for us. His emotional and inspiring journey will resonate with audiences around the world and we are honored he entrusted us to tell his story and work with us on future storytelling.”
Dwight Okechukwu, one of the visionaries on Skepta’s team, who co-directed his 2024 debut short film Tribal Mark released the following statement about the upcoming collab:
“I am thrilled and excited about our new partnership with powerhouse H.wood media, based in Los Angeles. As we embark on this collaborative journey, I am truly excited about the endless possibilities that lie ahead,”
The project is described as “a stirring documentary about the artist focusing on themes of cultural identity and artistry.” Being that throughout Skepta’s time-withstanding career, he has ventured into music, art, film and fashion and still he has not run out of material, we expect this talented pack of artists will have an epic story to tell which will no doubt give credence to the artists ‘You Wish’ lyrics: “Life is a movie, I stick to the script”.
Although Skepta’s venture into film has only taken shape this year many of his fans have seen it coming as clearly as he himself has, as the artist told Variety Magazine:
“Even if you listen to my albums, I always have skits, so I feel like I’ve always had doing a movie in my mind somewhere.”
The very few details that have been released to the public are enough to keep us excited ahead of the project's 2025 release date!
