Criticism Ensues as Rishi Sunak and Wife Discuss Chores in "Cringe-Worthy" Interview

In what was intended as a glimpse into the domestic life of the UK's Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, and his wife, Akshata Murty, a recent video interview has drawn widespread criticism on social media for being "completely out of touch."

The video, curated by Grazia UK ahead of International Women’s Day, engages in a lighthearted discussion about household chores. Questions such as "Who is best at loading the dishwasher?" and "Who is more likely to make the bed?" were posed to the couple, prompting the Conservative Party leader to take a quieter stance while his wife led the conversation.

Amid playful squabbles over chores, Sunak admitted his irritation at an unmade bed and criticised his wife's dishwasher stacking.

However, the attempt to showcase their domestic dynamics backfired as social media users unleashed angered comments. One observer questioned the authenticity of the couple's involvement in daily chores, asking, "How they share domestic duties?!!! Are you kidding? You think they’re taking out their own bins??!"

As many others similarly stated, an Instagram user said: “This is completely out of touch.”

With a heavy dose of sarcasm, someone else said: “Finally a couple I can relate to! As I scrape the mould off the bread for my morning toast and wonder how long I can make the toothpaste last if I cut the end off.”

One social media user described the content as "genuinely disgusting content," highlighting the current state of the economy as it was announced the UK has fallen into a recession.

Another highlighted how "the net worth of this family is expected to be close to a billion pounds soon. They are already twice as wealthy as the king."
