Student nurse Owami Davies has thankfully been found "safe and well" after being missing for almost seven weeks.
The Met Police have confirmed that the 24-year-old has been found after last being seen walking north along London Road in Croydon on 7 July.
DCI Nigel Penney from the force's specialist crime command said: "This is clearly the outcome we were hopeful for – the finding of the missing lady, Owami Davies."
"I'd like to say she has been found safe and well outside the London area in the county of Hampshire and she's currently with specialist officers from my team."
He added: "She looks in good health, she's in a place of safety, and not currently in the vulnerable state that we were led to believe she was in at the start of her disappearance."
Met commander Paul Brogden stated that "all aspects of the criminal investigation will now to be reviewed to conclude whether or not there is any learning that we need to take from how the criminal case was handled."
Officers arrested five people and made numerous appeals for relevant information but still struggled to locate Davies.
Police followed up on 117 reported sightings of the 24-year-old.
It was only on Monday that detectives issued a statement that Davies could be sleeping rough, with no money on her Oyster card and no access to her phone or bank cards.
However, due to a member of the public responding to a media appeal, officers were able to locate Owami Tuesday (today).
Davies left her family home in Essex on 4 July having told her mother she was going to the gym. She was last seen on CCTV cameras on the 7th.
It was recently revealed that police spoke to Davies when she was found asleep in a doorway in Clarendon Road, Croydon on 6 July while waiting for a friend. However, she reportedly told Met police that she did not need help and left.
Although Owami's family had reported her missing at this time, she had not yet been marked as a missing person on the police database.
Officers said that this mishap would be one of the several aspects of the case that would be looked at in the review of the investigation.
Police stated that they are "ecstatic" to have found Owami Davies safe and sound and the Met commander added : "More importantly I'm pleased for Owami's mother and her brother."
