Police launch inquiry into a box of faeces that was left outside conservative MP Siobhan Baillie's office
The police have launched an investigation after a box with faeces was left outside MP Siobhan Baillie's constituency office in Stroud.According to BBC News, the box also had a derogatory message written inside.The conservative MP said it was "the latest in many attempts to intimate and harass herself and staff".A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson, stated: "We are investigating an allegation of harassment after an offensive item was left outside Ms Baillie's constituency office."The force added that they are taking matters very seriously.
Ms Baillie, said she found it "difficult to understand" why the perpetrator sent the box.
She said: "There are plenty of ways to make a point about politics or governments without resorting to putting excrement in a box.
"Because of the nastiness we face, decent people are thinking twice about standing for public office."
The police are currently looking for witnesses.Ms Baillie was previously targeted in May 2020 after giving birth to her daughter. She said she had received a"number of abusive emails, calls and social media posts" that were against her taking maternity leave.The MP has been a Member of Parliament for Stroud since 2019. Before she went into office she was a family law solicitor.
