Tensions flared on social media this week after Leicester born rapper Trillary banks took to twitter to criticize Ivorian Doll’s wardrobe choice for her music promo shoot.
“Kmt. watch eediat. Guh put on clothes”, Trillary wrote. “This is the reason why UK female rappers get labeled ‘meedy’”, she added, attempting to blame her for negative perception of the UK female rappers.
In a swift response, Ivorian Doll appeared to measure her words, choosing to laugh it off and dismiss her instead. “I’m not even gonna give you time cos u are nothing here (laughing emoji)”, she wrote.
However her dismissive response did not seem to quail Trillary search for a fight. In a subsequent response, she wrote, “And you are? Big Bad Wah?”, seemingly offended by IVD’s remarks.
“You is a likkle gyal for me una. You don’t want this pressure”, she added. “I’ll done your career instantly.. And you are due for a few chest shots from the other day… keep playing games”
In a later tweet Trillary said, “i’m not even putting them down. I’m being honest more than half the girls trying to do this music thing are MEEDY. Like they should be banned from dropping full stop, respectfully”.
“Got us out here looking like clowns about ‘rapper’ sit tf down (clown emoji)”, she added.
Both Ivorian Doll and Trillary Banks are rising stars in the UK rap & drill scene.
Trillary rose to fame back in 2019 for her album Vote 4 Trillary. In 2020, she followed up with her album The Dark Horse, which won critical acclaim.
Ivorian Doll whose real name is Vanessa Mahi, on the other hand started off as a Youtuber and later went into music. The British rapper got her first break into the music scene with the release of her track “Rumours” in 2020 whose video reached a million views on youtube within a month and earned her a nomination for Best Newcomer in the 2020 MOBO Awards.
As for the beef and trolling, both Trillary and Ivorian Doll fans are not having it. “ It is unnecessary unprovoked drama, it’s boring”, one fan commented on the story on our instagram.
