RebelLion Group are known for their active role in the protection of young people in the community. Now, they have spoken out against the tragic death of the late 14 year old, Dea-John Reid.
In the touching speech, the group spoke about the "racist" system that leads many youths into a life of crime. They spoke about black youths being kicked out of school, whilst their mothers forced to "work like dogs".They suggested that the mother of a household being overworked leads to a life of crime for many youths in this country, usually because they feel a responsibility to help their mother provide.
The group also accused the "racist institutional system" of robbing the black community of their culture and knowledge of self.Throughout the video, the group could be heard shouting "Touch One, Touch All" which is emphasising the fact that one death touches a whole community in most cases.Dea-John Reid died from a stab wound to his chest in Birmingham on 31 May. He was confirmed to be dead at the scene at 19:30 BST on College Road.
He was a year 9 pupil at Harbone Academy, and all of his family described him as "incredibly talented"Five people have now been charged with the murder of Dea-John. These people include Micheal Shields, 35, George Khan, 38 and a 14 year old who cannot be named due to his age.Two more boys aged 14 and 16 appeared before Birmingham Crown Court earlier today.
