Residents, US rapper Sexyy Red, who is known for her provocative lyrics, unapologetic-nature and high-profile collaborations, has received a lot of attention for her choice of names on her lip gloss collection.

The star has shot to fame over the past couple of years and hits like ‘SkeeYee’ have secured her place amongst the newest cohort of successful female rappers. With lyrics such as ‘He wanna kiss me all over my tats’, anyone who has listened to more than 3 seconds of a Sexyy Red song, knows she does not shy away from sexual expression nor being provocative.

The St-Louis born raptress has now added a new feather to her diamante-studded cap, with the launch of her own make-up line ‘Northside Princess’. Red teased the upcoming line on her social media, with the caption:

 “Introducing NORTHSIDE PRINCESS the brand & my first product will b my lipgloss I’m so excited”.

Like with many celebs before Red, who have ventured into the risky but lucrative industry, the excitement of her fans flooded Red’s social media. However, Red’s announcement was met with some responses which were much more resounding than fan excitement, including shock, disgust and even outrage, after she teased the names of her collection.

The lip-gloss’ appear to come in a collection of eight distinct colours, each with an even more distinct name. The first lip gloss in the collection is “Coochie Juice”, which is proceeded by “Bootyhole Brown”, “Nut”, “Pussyhole Pink”, “Yellow Discharge”, “Gonorrhea”, “Blue Ballz”, and “Sex On My Period”. Whilst Red’s reasoning for the disturbing names remain unclear, the colours themselves are quite self-explanatory.

Some have speculated that Red is using a type of shock advertising or rage-bait marketing to achieve higher sales. However, if her aim was to get people talking than she has already succeeded, many commentators took to social media to share their own opinions of the lipgloss names. One user stated:

“You can be vulgar & risqué without being disgusting Imfaooo. NARS collection is a great example. Go back to the drawing board Sexyy cause this ain't it pookie”
