British rap sensation Stormzy has teamed up with adidas to launch an exciting new project, expanding the #Merky FC program with the unveiling of a vibrant community centre in South London.
Hailing from the streets of Croydon, Stormzy is giving back to his roots with the creation of #Merky FC HQ, transforming the rundown Selhurst Sports Arena into a dynamic hub for local residents. In collaboration with adidas, the facility has undergone a remarkable makeover, emerging as a cutting-edge football centre.
Managed by the Communities First Foundation, #Merky FC HQ offers a plethora of engaging activities and resources for young people in the area. From multimedia rooms to game zones and fully equipped football pitches, the two-story centre provides a diverse range of opportunities for the community to come together.
In addition to traditional sports facilities, #Merky FC HQ will host regular events in partnership with local organisations, offering training sessions, recording studio access, and other exciting opportunities for budding artists and athletes alike.
Collaborating with Adidas and EA SPORTS, the gaming hub within #Merky FC HQ is a gamer's paradise, featuring the latest consoles, racing simulators, and high-performance computers for endless entertainment.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Stormzy commented, “I’m thrilled to see #Merky FC HQ finally open its doors. Teaming up with Adidas, this has been a dream of mine for a long time, and now we have a space where the whole community can come together and thrive. Growing up, there was nothing like this available for young people in the area, so it's incredibly meaningful to have a facility like this in Croydon. It truly feels like a homegrown initiative!”
The grand opening of #Merky FC HQ is scheduled for May 2, promising a spectacular event for the residents of Croydon and beyond.
