The Manchester rapper looked dashing in a pale blue suit as he accepted the prestigious Brit Award for ‘Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act’, during the ceremony held at London’s famous O2 Arena, yesterday evening.

The nominees for the award included Central Cee, Dave, Stomzy and Loyle Carner.

Founder and owner of streetwear brand Corteiz, known as Clint, took to his Twitter account to share his confusion about the win, implying that Aitch wasn’t the most deserving candidate and that the award ceremony is rigged.

Aitch’s manager took to social media to defend the achievement, stating that the prize was a result of five years of hard work and was based on a public vote.

He also went on to refer to Clint as a ‘clout chasing hater’ under an Instagram post of himself and Aitch at the awards ceremony.

People on social media did not hesitate to express their opinions on which artists they believe were more deserving of the award in that category.

The annual Brit Awards showcase and celebrate the best and most successful British musicians; however, the ‘Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap’ category has caused controversy. Some music fans fear that compiling these genres poses the danger of condensing several Black artists into a singular category, instead of acknowledging the differences between the various styles.
