TV presenter and multifaceted talent Alesha Dixon has allegedly revealed to her inner circle that she is in the process of separating from her partner of 18 years Azuka Ononye. Dixon’s close Dixon friend reportedly told the Sun:
"She and Azuka have been together almost two decades but their relationship has become more like a friendship. They're devoted parents to their girls, who are 11 and six, and want to focus on keeping their relationship as amicable as possible for their sake.”
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 46, shares two young daughters with 43-year-old Ononye.
Despite never officially tying the knot, Dixon has often affectionately referred to her long-term partner as her husband when publicly discussing their union.
The star rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of pop group Mis-Teeq. She quickly became a black British household name and later found herself in the cross hairs of one of the biggest urban love scandals of the early noughties!
If you were old enough to be there it’s likely you’ll remember Dixon's first high-profile marriage to So Solid Crew rapper MC Harvey in 2005. However, the couple went from being the culture's very own Beyoncé and Jay-Z to divorce court after Harvey admitted to having an affair with singer Javine Hylton who he later welcomed a child with.
However, it seemed Dixon had got the happy ending we all knew she deserved when she met Ononye in 2006, after he was hired as a dancer for her tour. Ononye was no stranger to fame and had already worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Whitney Houston, Madonna and Sade.
Speaking about her partner on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast, Alesha told listeners:
“He was the first person that I’d met, that I knew that we could have children together because of our values, our morals, our thinking aligned…”
The couple welcomed their first child Azure Sienna Ononye in October, 2013 and their second child Anaya Safiya
in August, 2019.
The couple's last public appearance together was in March when they were photographed attending a music event in Soho, London. Despite always keeping a relatively low profile, fans began to suspect that there was trouble in paradise in October when she was photographed without her ring in a BGT promotional photo. Neither Dixon nor Ononye have publicly responded to the rumours.
