The chocolate people either love or hate will no longer be found in Celebrations boxes, as 39% don't like them.
Mars Wrigley has decided to introduce limited edition Celebrations boxes that will not include Bounty chocolates, due to "public demand".The decision comes after consumer research has shown Bounty chocolates to be the least popular amongst consumers, with 39% of people disliking them.
The survey also found that 58% of consumers said it would cause a family argument at Christmas if upon opening the tub, Bounty bars were the only chocolate left.18% of consumers also said they would feel irritated if Bounty bars were the only chocolate left in the tub. A further 28% of people believed coconut had no place in a chocolate bar in the first place.
The new tubs are to include extra Galaxy, Maltesers, Mars, Snickers and Milky Way chocolates to make up for the lack of Bounty sweets. The "No Bounty" Celebrations boxes will be introduced across 40 Tesco Christmas Market locations throughout November and December.
Customers of selected Tesco Christmas Market stores will be able to exchange Celebrations boxes bought in-store for the new Bounty-less boxes until 18th December.Although many consumers have expressed distaste for the chocolate, nearly 40% of consumers over the age of 55 chose Bounty as their favourite chocolate. An additional 18% of overall consumers have also named Bounty as their favourite of all the chocolates in the Celebrations tub.
The rollout of the new Bounty Boxes follows the Bounty Return Scheme from last year, where shoppers were able to return unwanted Bounty chocolates and swap them for Maltesers."Last year, we allowed customers to return their unwanted Bounty chocolates," said senior brand manager Emily Owen. "Now, off the back of public demand, we're trialling taking them out of the tub altogether. "Owen went on to say "You don't know what you've got until it's gone. And to those loyal - and secret - Bounty lovers out there, there's still a chance they'll make a return after the trial."
