Burna Boy's Police Escorts Shoot a Man After The Singer Made Advances Towards His Wife

Five police officers who were escorting the artist Burna Boy have been detained after they shot two men at a club in Lagos on Wednesday.According to a report by the Bar Beach Police Division, the singer and his five police escorts visited Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos, at around 4am on 8 June. Four policemen waited outside whilst one of the policemen, known as Inspector Ibrahim, accompanied Burna Boy into the club.Multiple witnesses stated that they saw the singer sitting in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another married woman.

One of the policemen escorting Burna Boy, Ibrahim, was told to invite the woman to join the artist.The woman joined Burna Boy and he made advances towards her. The woman's husband was reportedly angry and insisted it was disrespectful for another man to make advances at his wife.A heated argument reportedly took place between Burna Boy and the husband and his friends who had gathered at the club. A senior policeman said: "As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing."

The husband, Irebami Lawrence, was shot in the thigh and his friend, known as Tolu, was hit in the head by a stray bullet. This incident caused a commotion among the club attendees.Burna Boy and the police officers drove off to one of his properties at the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before leaving for Lekki Phase 1.A source from the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police said: "Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had travelled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters."Burna Boy has not made a comment on the incident.In March, Burna Boy claimed that he was the highest paid artist in the history of African music.
